Los Angeles, CA (Jan 12th, 2025)- Deadly 210 Freeway Crash Involves Tesla and Commercial Truck early Sunday morning in Sylmar, leaving at least one person dead and prompting a full closure of the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway for several hours, according to authorities.

The fatal collision occurred at approximately 5:10 a.m. on the eastbound lanes near the Polk Street off-ramp, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed. The crash involved a Tesla and a semi-truck, also referred to as a commercial big rig. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, but despite lifesaving efforts, one individual was pronounced dead at the location of the crash.

Firefighters and paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department assisted CHP officers with recovery efforts, including the extraction of the victim from the wreckage. “This incident will significantly impact traffic and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes,” said LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. The closure remained in effect for roughly three hours as investigators documented the scene, assessed vehicle damage, and determined the events leading up to the crash. The SigAlert was lifted at approximately 9:34 a.m., allowing traffic to gradually resume.

At this time, officials have not released details regarding what caused the collision, whether speed or driver error played a role, or if impairment is suspected. The investigation remains ongoing, and further information is expected as authorities review physical evidence, vehicle data, and witness statements.
