Deadly Accident on Riverside Road May Involve Drunk Driver [Riverside County, CA]

Riverside County, CA (April 12th, 2025)- A deadly accident on Riverside Road may involve a drunk driver, according to authorities investigating a tragic collision that occurred Thursday night in south Riverside. The crash, which took place on Washington Street just south of Gladstone Boulevard, resulted in the death of a 46-year-old Riverside man and led to the arrest of a suspected impaired driver.

The Riverside Police Department reported that 32-year-old Daniel Dubois of Norco was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet pickup truck towing a horse trailer when he attempted a left turn out of a private driveway near Riverside Rancheros around 9:30 p.m. The trailer reportedly carried a horse, which was unharmed in the incident.

As Dubois began to turn eastbound onto Washington, a Volkswagen sedan driven by the victim was heading southbound through the area at an unconfirmed speed, according to Sgt. Tim Jensen, Dubois’s pickup crossed directly into the path of the oncoming Volkswagen, which then violently crashed into the truck’s rear section, causing extensive damage to the smaller vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene within minutes but were unable to save the Volkswagen driver, who was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of family.

Dubois sustained unspecified injuries and was transported to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment. While undergoing medical care, he was placed under arrest on suspicion of felony DUI. Authorities have yet to confirm when he will be formally booked into jail, and no bail information has been released at this time.
