Los Angeles, CA (May 29, 2025)- Deadly South LA Crash Claims Driver’s Life when a 21-year-old man lost control of his vehicle and collided with multiple parked cars early Tuesday morning in South Los Angeles. The victim, later identified as Jefferson Romero, was pronounced dead at the scene following the single-vehicle accident on Vernon Avenue near McKinley Avenue, officials confirmed.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Los Angeles Police Department, Romero’s car struck several unoccupied vehicles at approximately 7:10 a.m., prompting a swift response from Fire Department crews who, despite their efforts, were unable to save him.
LAPD Officer Kevin Terzes reported that traffic on Vernon Avenue was temporarily halted between McKinley and Wadsworth avenues while detectives and crash investigators documented the scene. Skid marks, debris, and vehicle damage suggested that Romero may have lost control at a high rate of speed, though the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation. Witnesses in the neighborhood reported hearing a loud bang before first responders arrived, and local businesses were briefly disrupted due to the street closure.
For grieving families coping with such a sudden tragedy, the financial and emotional toll can be overwhelming. In wrongful-death cases like this, survivors may be entitled to several forms of compensation, including funeral and burial expenses, medical bills incurred before death, loss of financial support, and damages for pain and suffering and emotional distress. Dependent parents or siblings may also recover for the loss of companionship and guidance that a young life, like Jefferson’s, would have provided over time.
