Los Angeles, CA (Jul 9th, 2025)- A tragic single-vehicle crash in Lancaster has left a 64-year-old woman dead, and authorities are now investigating whether intoxication played a role. Driver investigated after deadly Lancaster crash is the focus of an ongoing California Highway Patrol (CHP) inquiry following the fatal incident that occurred around 12:10 p.m. on Monday along eastbound State Route 138 near 90th Street West.
According to the CHP, officers were initially alerted to a vehicle being driven recklessly in the area. Before officers could intercept the vehicle, it crashed near 60th Street West. Preliminary investigations reveal the woman was driving a 2000 Isuzu eastbound when the vehicle veered off the highway, entered a dirt field, and overturned. Tragically, she was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries at the scene.
The woman’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Authorities suspect that alcohol and/or drugs may have been contributing factors in the crash, although the investigation remains ongoing. The crash forced the temporary closure of 60th Street West at State Route 138 (Avenue D) for approximately two hours.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information is encouraged to contact the investigating officer at 661-743-6060.
What Compensation Could Be at Stake for Victims and Families?
When fatal accidents like this occur, surviving family members may be entitled to pursue compensation through a wrongful death claim. These claims can include compensation for funeral expenses, lost income that the deceased would have provided, emotional suffering, and the loss of companionship. In cases where intoxication is involved, punitive damages may also be pursued to hold the at-fault party fully accountable. If the deceased was not the only party affected—such as if there were injured passengers or damage to other property—additional personal injury or property claims could be filed as well.
Navigating the legal process after such a traumatic event can be overwhelming, especially for grieving families. That’s where legal assistance becomes essential.
