A fatal Boyle Heights crash claimed the life of a 77-year-old man and left two teenagers seriously injured in a devastating two-car collision late Thursday night. The incident, which authorities believe involved high-speed driving, occurred at the intersection of 3066 E. Fourth Street and South Fresno Street, leaving a community reeling from the tragedy.

Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responders arrived at the scene at approximately 9:06 p.m. to find three individuals trapped in the wreckage. After extricating the victims, paramedics pronounced one of the drivers, identified as Jose Trevizo of Los Angeles, dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner confirmed his identity the following day.

The other vehicle involved in the crash carried an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both of whom were transported to local hospitals in serious condition. The collision’s severity underscores the dangers of high-speed driving, which is suspected to have played a role in this heartbreaking incident.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Trevizo was traveling westbound on Fourth Street and attempting to make a left turn onto Fresno Street when his vehicle was struck by the other car, which was traveling eastbound at a high speed. Investigators are still piecing together the events leading to the collision to determine the exact circumstances and potential guilt.

Compensation at Stake for Victims

In accidents like this, the victims and their families face not only emotional devastation but also significant financial burdens. The injured teens may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost wages, and emotional distress. For Trevizo’s family, wrongful death compensation could cover funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and financial support the deceased may have provided.
