Los Angeles, CA (Dec 27th, 2025)- Fatal Long Beach Crash Claims Life of 16-Year-Old Girl after a two-vehicle collision Tuesday night that authorities say may have involved speed and distracted driving. The tragic incident has left a family grieving and a community searching for answers as investigators work to determine exactly what went wrong.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the crash occurred around 8:20 p.m. near the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Wardlow Road. The 16-year-old victim was a passenger in a 2007 Saturn driven by a 17-year-old boy. Police stated that both the Saturn and a 2021 Jeep Wrangler were traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard, just south of Wardlow Road, when the Saturn attempted a lane change and collided with the Jeep.
The impact of the crash left the teenage passenger critically injured. She was rushed to a local hospital, where medical staff worked to save her life. Sadly, detectives were notified the following day that the 16-year-old girl had succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Jeep Wrangler was not injured in the collision and remained at the scene, fully cooperating with law enforcement.
Investigators have indicated that speed and distracted driving may have been contributing factors in the crash, though the investigation remains ongoing. No arrests or citations have been announced at this time. Authorities are continuing to review evidence, interview witnesses, and analyze the circumstances surrounding the lane change that led to the fatal collision.
The Long Beach Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to come forward. Tips can be shared by calling the LBPD at 562-570-7358. Those wishing to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit information online through lacrimestoppers.org.
Compensation That May Be Available to the Victim’s Family
In fatal car accident cases involving minors, surviving family members may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Compensation can include funeral and burial expenses, medical costs incurred before the victim’s passing, loss of future financial support, and loss of love, companionship, and guidance. In some cases, damages may also account for the family’s emotional pain and suffering. Determining liability is critical, especially when factors such as distracted driving, speeding, or unsafe lane changes are involved. A thorough legal investigation can help identify all responsible parties and available insurance coverage.
