A single-vehicle rollover crash in a Sunland residential neighborhood claimed one man’s life and left three others hospitalized Monday evening, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The crash occurred just after 6 p.m. at 11133 N. Oro Vista Avenue, where an SUV careened off an embankment and came to rest inside Oro Vista Park. Emergency responders from LAFD arrived to find one victim beyond medical help, while the three remaining occupants were rushed to area hospitals.
What Happened
The SUV involved in the crash left the roadway and rolled down an embankment near Oro Vista Avenue in the community of Sunland, landing inside the adjacent park. Aerial footage from news helicopters showed a significant emergency response at the scene, including multiple ambulances and fire engines. One of the female occupants was transported to a hospital in critical condition. A teenage male, a teenage female, and a man in his 20s were each hospitalized in serious condition. The man who died was found near the driver’s side of the heavily damaged vehicle.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded in force, with paramedics rapidly assessing all four occupants. The male victim was determined to be beyond medical intervention and was pronounced dead at the scene. Personnel from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office were called to take custody of the remains, and a canopy was erected at the scene while investigators conducted their work. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill Division has taken over the ongoing investigation into what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.

Four individuals were in the SUV at the time of the crash. One man was killed at the scene. A woman was transported in critical condition, while two teenagers and a man in his 20s were listed in serious condition.
