The West Covina Police Department has launched an investigation into the tragic accident, which occurred on West Puente Avenue between North Orange and North Sunset Avenues.

According to the West Covina Police Department, officers responded to the accident at approximately 12:16 a.m. on Friday. A preliminary investigation determined that a black Toyota sedan was traveling in the wrong direction when it collided head-on with a white Honda sedan. Sgt. Steven Spagon of the department confirmed that the impact was severe, leading to significant injuries for multiple occupants in both vehicles.
Tragically, a male passenger seated in the back of the Honda succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Paramedics from the West Covina Fire Department pronounced him deceased upon arrival. The other passengers in the Honda—a woman and two men—sustained serious injuries. Two were listed in critical condition, while the third was treated at a hospital and later released.
