Felon Faces Charges After Fatal DUI in Garden Grove, where a 39-year-old Long Beach man with prior felony convictions has made his first court appearance in connection with a fiery crash that claimed a woman’s life nearly three years ago. The defendant, identified as Favian Feliciano, is accused of killing 29-year-old Ariana A. during a deadly collision on November 11, 2022, in the 9000 block of Garden Grove Boulevard. According to court records, the victim’s name was only listed as Ariana A. on the criminal complaint.

Authorities reported that Feliciano was behind the wheel of a Tesla when the collision occurred at around 12:45 a.m. The impact set the car ablaze, creating a fiery scene that required officers to pull Feliciano from the burning vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition following the crash. Despite his injuries, Feliciano is now facing multiple felony charges, including second-degree murder, driving under the influence of drugs causing injury, and receiving or possessing a stolen vehicle with a prior felony conviction.

In addition to the fatality, prosecutors have also filed a sentencing enhancement against Feliciano for causing great bodily injury to another woman who was seriously hurt in the crash but survived. At his arraignment on Wednesday inside the jail courtroom in Santa Ana, Feliciano did not enter a plea. The court has rescheduled the hearing for September 10 at the West Justice Center in Westminster.

Court documents reveal Feliciano’s criminal history, which includes a 2018 conviction for vehicle theft and a 2005 burglary conviction in Los Angeles County. These prior offenses, prosecutors argue, demonstrate a pattern of unlawful behavior that escalated to tragic consequences on that November night.
