Orange County, CA (Jun 14th, 2025)- Guilty Buena Park DUI driver Misses Sentencing when an arrest warrant was issued Friday for 35-year-old Jose Luis Contrerasdiaz, who did not show up for his scheduled sentencing hearing in Orange County Superior Court.
Contrerasdiaz had pleaded guilty on March 20 to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, two counts of driving under the influence causing injury (including one with a blood-alcohol level of .08% or higher), and a misdemeanor count of driving without a valid license. He also admitted sentencing enhancements for inflicting significant bodily injury upon his victims.
At the time of his plea, Judge Larry Yellin extended an offer of a six-year prison term in the state. Contrerasdiaz entered his guilty plea with 192 days of pre-sentence custody credit, but subsequently “went on a bit of a bender” that led to his expulsion from the Monitored Outpatient Sobriety Treatment program, according to Deputy District Attorney Devin Campbell.
Court records show that on October 10, 2022, just after midnight, Contrerasdiaz drove at excessive speed and ran a red light at Beach Boulevard near the Riverside (91) Freeway, colliding with another vehicle and killing 67-year-old Mohan Ganesh Dhuri of Anaheim. His blood-alcohol concentration at the time of the crash measured 0.12%.
