Los Angeles, CA (OCT 16th, 2025)- A tragic hit-and-run leaves a woman critically injured after being struck by two vehicles early Saturday morning on the south side of downtown Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the crash occurred around 5:45 a.m. on October 5 at the intersection of Central Avenue and 14th Place. The woman was crossing the street when a dark-colored 2018–2025 Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Central Avenue hit her.
The force of the collision threw the pedestrian onto the roadway in a southwesterly direction, where she was struck a second time by another vehicle—a blue compact SUV believed to be a 2007–2011 Honda CR-V. Authorities reported that neither driver stopped to render aid or call for emergency assistance as required by California law. Instead, both fled the scene, continuing southbound on Central Avenue.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics quickly responded and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. She remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Police have since released surveillance images of the two vehicles involved, urging the public to come forward with any information that might help identify the hit-and-run drivers. Anyone with tips is asked to contact the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division and speak with Officer Balderas at 213-833-3713 or email [email protected].
The Impact of Hit-and-Run Accidents
Hit-and-run crashes are among the most devastating types of accidents because victims are often left without immediate medical help. In this case, the victim suffered severe injuries that could result in long-term medical complications, rehabilitation needs, and emotional trauma. California law requires all drivers involved in collisions to stop, render aid, and exchange information—but when drivers flee, victims face not only physical pain but also financial hardship as they try to recover.
Compensation Available for Victims
Victims of hit-and-run accidents may be entitled to various forms of compensation, including medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and long-term rehabilitation costs. If the driver is identified, the injured party can pursue a personal injury claim against them. However, even if the driver remains unidentified, victims can still seek compensation through their own uninsured motorist coverage. This can help cover hospital bills, therapy, and other financial losses resulting from the accident.
Our team understands how overwhelming these situations can be. Beyond the physical injuries, victims often face emotional and psychological distress, particularly when justice seems uncertain. That’s why having experienced legal representation can make a world of difference.
