Los Angeles, CA (Nov 7th, 2025)- A tragic hit-and-run crash has left the Palmdale community heartbroken after a woman was fatally struck early Saturday morning. Palmdale Woman Identified After Deadly Hit-and-Run — authorities have confirmed the victim as 38-year-old Jeanette Garcia, who lost her life after being hit by a speeding motorist who fled the scene.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale Station, the collision occurred around 4:13 a.m. near 20th Street East and Avenue S. Investigators reported that Garcia was crossing Avenue S while pushing a shopping cart when a light blue 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis traveling westbound struck her in the left lane. Instead of stopping to help or calling 911, the driver sped away, leaving Garcia gravely injured on the roadway.
Paramedics arrived within minutes, but tragically, Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later confirmed her identity. Authorities are now appealing to the public for any information about the suspect or the vehicle involved. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has knowledge of the driver’s whereabouts is urged to contact local law enforcement immediately.
A Community in Mourning
Jeanette Garcia’s death has deeply affected those who knew her and members of the wider Palmdale community. Friends and neighbors have expressed shock and sorrow, describing her as a kind and hardworking woman who didn’t deserve such a tragic fate. Hit-and-run crashes not only rob families of their loved ones but also leave lasting emotional and financial scars.
Leaving the scene of a crash is a serious crime under California law. Drivers involved in accidents that cause injury or death are legally required to stop, render aid, and report the incident. Failing to do so can result in felony charges and significant prison time.
Compensation for Hit-and-Run Victims
In fatal hit-and-run cases like this, families may be entitled to compensation for wrongful death, which can include medical expenses, funeral costs, lost income, loss of companionship, and emotional suffering. If the at-fault driver is located, their insurance coverage or personal assets may help cover these damages. However, when the driver remains unidentified, victims’ families can often seek compensation through their own uninsured motorist coverage.
