The fatal incident occurred just after 11 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Stoneman Street in Lakeland Village. Officials said the woman was walking along Grand Avenue when she unexpectedly entered the roadway and was struck by an oncoming vehicle traveling through the intersection.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver involved was operating a 2010 Toyota Prius southbound on Grand Avenue at an estimated speed of about 45 miles per hour.
