Los Angeles, CA (Jun 28th, 2025)- Person Fatally Hit by Vehicle on Marina Freeway Off-Ramp early Friday morning, marking the second pedestrian death in less than a week along this dangerous stretch of roadway near Marina del Rey.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal incident occurred around 4:25 a.m. on the transition road connecting the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the westbound Marina (90) Freeway in Culver City, which is located in Los Angeles County.
An Infiniti sedan struck the pedestrian under circumstances that are still under investigation. Emergency responders from the Culver City Fire Department arrived at the scene and tragically pronounced the victim dead at approximately 4:42 a.m.
Details about the pedestrian—including name, age, and gender—have not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. The crash resulted in the immediate closure of the transition ramp, and a SigAlert was issued, causing significant traffic disruption during the morning commute. CHP later lifted the alert at 7:12 a.m. once the scene was cleared and initial investigations were completed.
This marks the second pedestrian fatality on the 90 Freeway this week. On June 22, former NFL and Canadian Football League player Chandler Jones, 33, was struck and killed near the western end of the same freeway around 2:00 a.m. That incident also involved a vehicle collision under dark and early morning conditions.
