Los Angeles, CA (SEP 26th, 2025)- Police ID Teenager Killed in Suspected DUI Accident in Lancaster after a tragic multi-vehicle crash claimed the life of 18-year-old Sergio Ortega, a Little Rock resident. The fatal collision occurred around 6:50 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 90th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard, according to officials.
Victim Identified
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Ortega’s identity on Thursday. Authorities reported that Ortega was struck and killed instantly when another driver, suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, ran a red light at high speed.
Arrest Made in DUI Crash
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) identified the alleged impaired driver as 47-year-old M. Monroy of Palmdale. Investigators determined that Monroy was driving a maroon Kia southbound on 90th Street East when he sped through a red light and collided with a gray Infiniti G35 traveling east on Palmdale Boulevard.
The force of that impact sent the Infiniti crashing into a white Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck that was stopped at the intersection.
CHP officers arrested Monroy on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Detectives confirmed that his reckless decision not only endangered his life but also led to the senseless death of a young man whose life had barely begun.

Sergio Ortega was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted that no other fatalities were reported. Still, multiple vehicles were left severely damaged, and several families are now dealing with the aftermath of an incident that could have been prevented.
