Los Angeles, CA (OCT 7th, 2025)- Authorities are continuing their search for the driver responsible for a deadly hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 56-year-old man in South Los Angeles. The tragic incident has left family and friends grieving and the community demanding justice for the victim.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash occurred around 12:40 p.m. on August 27, when the victim, later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office as William Jones, was walking near parked cars along Gage Avenue, east of Vermont Avenue.
A vehicle traveling eastbound on Gage Avenue struck Jones and sped away from the scene without stopping to render aid. The impact left Jones critically injured, and despite receiving emergency medical care, he sadly passed away a day later at the hospital.
At this time, investigators have not released a description of the suspect vehicle, which was last seen heading east toward Hoover Street. Police are urging anyone with information about the driver or vehicle involved to come forward.
