Los Angeles, CA (APRIL 23rd, 2025)- Teen Passenger Loses Life Following Crash in Long Beach after a high-speed collision left one dead and two others injured late Monday night. The tragic incident occurred near the intersection of Shoreline Drive and Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, when a 2005 Chevrolet sedan veered off the road and slammed into a tree.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:20 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the vehicle overturned and pinned against a tree in the center median, with all three occupants trapped inside. Emergency responders from the Long Beach Fire Department worked swiftly to extricate the individuals from the wreckage.

Tragically, a 19-year-old passenger from Van Nuys was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, also 19, and another passenger were seriously injured and transported to a nearby hospital. Though their injuries were severe, they were not considered life-threatening.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Shoreline Drive when the driver lost control. The car left the roadway before crashing into the tree. Authorities are also examining whether impaired driving played a role in the incident.

The Long Beach Police Department is actively investigating the crash and urges anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses or individuals with details are encouraged to contact the LBPD at 562-570-7355. For those who wish to remain anonymous, tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or online at lacrimestoppers.org.

Compensation Options for Victims and Families

In the aftermath of such tragic events, families often face immense emotional and financial burdens. When a loved one is killed or injured in a motor vehicle accident, there may be legal grounds to pursue compensation. This can include funeral expenses, medical bills, loss of income, emotional distress, and pain and suffering. Additionally, surviving victims may be eligible to claim compensation for long-term treatment or rehabilitation resulting from serious injuries.

In cases where negligence—such as speeding or impaired driving—is suspected, victims and their families may also be entitled to punitive damages meant to hold the at-fault party accountable and deter similar reckless behavior in the future.
