Los Angeles, VA (Mar 25th, 2025)- A tragic fatal collision reported in Long Beach has left two people dead following a devastating crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. Authorities are investigating the incident on Sunday evening at the intersection of Wardlow Road and Woodruff Avenue.
Details of the Fatal Crash
According to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), officers responded to reports of a severe collision at approximately 7:35 p.m. Upon arrival, emergency responders found two individuals had already succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased were identified as 28-year-old Austin Patrick Fett of Lakewood, who was riding the motorcycle and a passenger in the vehicle. Fire crews at the scene pronounced both victims dead. The driver of the 2006 Toyota Highlander, the other vehicle involved, was transported to a local hospital, but their condition remains unknown at this time.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Fett was riding a 2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle northbound on Woodruff Avenue when the Toyota Highlander turned left from southbound Woodruff Avenue onto eastbound Wardlow Road. The motorcycle collided with the passenger vehicle, resulting in the tragic fatalities.
Authorities have stated that impaired driving does not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
Legal Rights and Compensation for Victims’ Families
When a fatal accident occurs, the surviving families of the victims may have legal grounds to seek compensation for wrongful death and other related damages. In this case, the families of Austin Patrick Fett and the deceased passenger may be entitled to claim compensation for:
Medical Expenses – Costs incurred before death, including emergency medical treatment.
Funeral and Burial Costs – Expenses related to laying the victim to rest.
Loss of Financial Support – If the deceased was a primary earner, their family may seek damages for lost income and future earnings.
Pain and Suffering – Compensation for emotional distress and trauma caused by the unexpected loss of a loved one.
Loss of Consortium – Families may be eligible for damages due to the loss of companionship, care, and guidance.
California law allows victims’ families to file wrongful death claims against negligent drivers, vehicle owners, or other responsible parties. While financial compensation cannot replace a life lost, it can help ease the financial burdens associated with an unexpected tragedy.
