Los Angeles, CA (Mar 7th, 2025) -A tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a pedestrian near Glendale Junction, west of Lincoln Heights, in the early hours of Friday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The fatal accident, which occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Avenue 19 and Humboldt Street, has left authorities searching for the driver who fled the scene.

Details of the Incident

Witnesses reported that the victim, a man believed to be between 35 and 40 years old, was crossing Avenue 19 when a vehicle struck him. Instead of stopping to render aid, the driver sped away, leaving the injured pedestrian behind. Emergency responders arrived shortly after, but tragically, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released any identifying details about the victim, and the vehicle is not described. The LAPD is urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward to assist in the investigation.

Legal and Financial Compensation for Hit-and-Run Victims’ Families

When a loved one is killed in a hit-and-run accident, their family members may be left grappling with emotional devastation and financial burdens. In such cases, surviving family members may be entitled to compensation through a wrongful death claim. This can help cover medical expenses incurred before death, funeral and burial costs, loss of income (if the deceased was a provider), and the emotional suffering endured by the family.

California law allows families to seek damages even if the at-fault driver has not been identified. Victims’ families may pursue compensation through uninsured motorist (UM) coverage if the deceased was covered by such a policy. Additionally, crime victim funds may be available to support those affected by the reckless actions of a hit-and-run driver.
