Two Dead after Crash Diverts Pickup Truck into Pole in Mecca [Riverside, CA]

Riverside, CA (Mar 8th 2025)- A devastating traffic accident in Mecca resulted in the deaths of two individuals on Friday morning when a pickup truck crashed into a power pole. The fatal crash was reported at approximately 10:15 a.m. near the intersection of 68th Avenue and Grant Street, according to records from the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Details of the Collision

CHP Officer David Torres provided details of the incident, stating that a red Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound on Grant Street when it collided with a black Toyota Tundra heading westbound on 68th Avenue. The impact of the crash caused the Tundra to overturn, striking a power pole and leading to serious injuries for both occupants inside the vehicle.

Tragically, both individuals in the Tundra succumbed to their injuries at the scene within 25 minutes of the collision, as confirmed by CHP reports. The driver of the Tacoma, a 25-year-old man, sustained minor injuries but survived the crash. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but despite their efforts, the victims in the Tundra could not be saved.

Authorities have indicated that neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have played a role in the accident. As of Friday afternoon, the identities of the deceased victims had not yet been publicly released.
