Two hit-and-runs on the 110 Freeway are currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol after a shocking overnight incident in South Los Angeles was caught on video. The crashes happened early Sunday morning, around 2:30 a.m., on the northbound side of the freeway just south of Gage Avenue.

According to CHP, officers responded to reports of a collision and discovered that two separate crashes had occurred in the same area. Surveillance footage shows a dark-colored vehicle traveling in the third lane suddenly swerving to the side and hitting a car to its right, pushing it violently toward a concrete barrier. The exact dark vehicle then ricocheted and collided with a second car on its left.

Although the footage clearly captures the initial hit-and-run, the second incident occurred off-camera and remains unclear. Authorities have confirmed that both crashes were hit-and-run incidents. At this time, no injuries have been reported, and no arrests have been made. A detailed description of the suspect vehicles has not yet been released.

The CHP’s Central Los Angeles office is leading the investigation and is asking for the public’s help in identifying the drivers responsible. Incidents like these highlight the dangers motorists face on Southern California freeways, particularly during overnight hours when visibility is low and traffic enforcement can be limited.

While no physical injuries have been reported so far, victims of hit-and-run crashes often face more than just vehicle damage. Emotional trauma, increased insurance rates, and the burden of out-of-pocket expenses can weigh heavily on victims. Even in cases where injuries are not immediately apparent, latent conditions like whiplash or back injuries may develop in the hours or days following the crash.

Victims of hit-and-run accidents may be eligible for various forms of compensation, including vehicle repair costs, medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. However, recovering damages in hit-and-run cases can be challenging due to the absence of an identified at-fault driver.
