PALM DESERT, CA (FEB 11th, 2025) – Two Killed in I-10 Crash Near Washington St: Two people lost their lives in a devastating multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Washington Street on Tuesday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed that the crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. on the westbound lanes and involved at least three vehicles, including two semi-trucks.

Details of the Collision

CHP said a white Toyota was traveling westbound on I-10, west of Washington Street, at approximately 70 mph in the #2 lane. For reasons yet to be determined, the driver suddenly veered right, colliding with a blue semi-truck and trailer in the #3 lane. The impact sent the Toyota crashing into a red disabled semi-truck parked on the right shoulder. As its driver performed maintenance, a white tire repair truck was stationed directly before the red semi-truck.

Tragically, the collision set off a deadly chain reaction. The blue semi-truck struck the white repair truck and the repair worker, a pedestrian at the time. The drivers of the white Toyota and the repair truck both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Victims Identified

On Wednesday, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 31-year-old Fabian Zamora of Indio and 49-year-old Carolina Navarrete De Leal of Coachella. Their sudden and tragic passing leaves a deep void in their families and communities.
