According to CHP traffic logs and video obtained by Victor Valley News Group, a white double-trailer semi-truck was traveling on Barstow Road and crossing the intersection at Old Woman Springs Road (SR-247) when it was struck between its two trailers by a red single-trailer semi-truck that was traveling on Old Woman Springs Road. The red semi was hauling ammonium nitrate — a chemical commonly used as fertilizer — while the white double-trailer was transporting rocks. The force of the collision resulted in both trucks sustaining significant damage, and rocks from the white semi-truck’s cargo spilled across the roadway. Both drivers were able to exit their vehicles following the crash and were reported as possibly injured. The cause of the collision, including which truck had the right of way at the stop-controlled intersection, is under investigation by the CHP.
Emergency Response and Investigation
CHP officers and emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Old Woman Springs Road and Barstow Road following the crash.
