Los Angeles, CA (Nov 13th, 2025)- Authorities have identified the woman killed in a devastating crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Sunland early Wednesday morning. The victim, 21-year-old Elyssa Fresquez, lost her life when a Toyota Prius she was driving rear-ended a big rig and became pinned beneath its trailer.
The collision occurred around 2:13 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the freeway, just east of Sunland Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Investigators said the Prius struck the back of the fully loaded big rig, which was carrying produce weighing more than 3 million pounds. The impact was so severe that the smaller vehicle was trapped under the trailer, instantly killing Fresquez at the scene.
CHP Officer Sergio Garcia confirmed that emergency crews responded immediately, but despite their efforts, Fresquez was pronounced dead inside the gray Prius. The Los Angeles County Office of the Medical Examiner later identified her and notified her family. The force of the collision caused significant damage and led to oil spilling along the right shoulder, necessitating the use of absorbent materials for cleanup.
