Los Angeles, CA (July 12, 2024) – Authorities are seeking public assistance in identifying the motorist involved in a deadly hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a man in Van Nuys.

The tragic event occurred on June 30 at approximately 8:55 p.m. at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Haynes Street, as reported by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

The victim, described as a male between the ages of 60 and 70, was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard.

According to detectives, the man was crossing mid-block, outside of a designated crosswalk, when the incident occurred.

Unfortunately, the driver continued south on Sepulveda Boulevard without stopping to render aid or identify themselves, leaving the scene of the accident.

Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department promptly arrived at the scene and transported the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

In a statement, the LAPD emphasized the importance of motorists stopping and remaining at the scene following any collision to notify emergency services and provide their identification.

Victims of such tragic events often face substantial expenses, including medical bills, funeral costs, and potential loss of income. The emotional and financial toll on the victim’s family can be overwhelming.
