A 41-year-old man who was fatally injured in a Fatal Lakewood Traffic Accident on the border of Long Beach and Lakewood was identified Monday by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
David Garcia, a resident of Downey, was initially injured in the collision that took place around 6:10 p.m. on June 4 at the intersection of Carson Street and Ostrom Avenue.
According to the Long Beach Police Department and the medical examiner, Garcia was riding a 2022 Yamaha motorcycle, heading west on Carson Street behind another vehicle.
He changed lanes just as the driver of a 2007 Ford Edge turned left onto Carson Street. The motorcycle collided with the Ford, resulting in Garcia sustaining critical injuries.
Despite being rushed to the hospital and receiving medical attention, Garcia’s injuries proved too severe, and he remained hospitalized until his death on July 9, as reported by the police.
Authorities are seeking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to provide information. They urge potential witnesses to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Ashley Van Holland at 562-570-7355, and Crime Stoppers at 800-8477.
