A Fatal Fiery Collision in Castaic on Wednesday Claimed the Lives of Three Passengers and Left the Driver Hospitalized and in Custody
CASTAIC, CA (July 3, 2024) – The tragic incident occurred when a car crashed and burst into flames, allegedly due to impaired driving.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene on The Old Road around 12:30 a.m. According to the CHP, “A silver 2010 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on The Old Road, south of Parker Road in the city of Castaic. The Camry was traveling at a high rate of speed when it approached a curve in the roadway. The driver was unable to negotiate the curve in the roadway, and the vehicle left the roadway, crashing into a tree along the east side of the roadway. The vehicle was split in half, and passengers #1, #2, and #3 were ejected from the vehicle. The vehicle continued and crashed into a light pole, subsequently catching fire.”
CHP’s statement further detailed that the driver managed to extricate herself from the vehicle.
Tragically, all passengers in the vehicle were declared deceased by the Los Angeles County Fire Department upon their arrival, due to multiple traumatic injuries.
The driver, identified as Taylor Roberson, 19, of Redlands, exhibited signs of alcohol intoxication. A DUI investigation confirmed she was under the influence at the time of the crash, which led to the fatal injuries of her passengers.
Roberson was hospitalized for major injuries and arrested, pending the possible filing of charges. The identities of the deceased, two males and a female, were withheld pending notification of their families. One male victim was 22 and from Castaic, while the ages and cities of residence of the other two passengers were not immediately known.
