A fatal motor vehicle accident claimed the life of a motorist Tuesday morning in Long Beach. The tragic collision occurred at approximately 7:35 a.m. at the intersection of Wardlow Road and Palo Verde Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
The crash involved two vehicles: a 2002 Toyota Sequoia traveling eastbound on Wardlow Road and a 2014 Toyota Tundra heading southbound on Palo Verde Avenue. Preliminary reports from the LBPD indicate that the Sequoia’s driver failed to stop at a red light, resulting in a collision with the Tundra, which had entered the intersection on a green light.
“The force of the collision caused the Toyota Sequoia to overturn and eject the driver,” police revealed in a statement. Tragically, paramedics pronounced the 35-year-old driver of the Sequoia dead at the scene. Authorities have withheld his name pending notification of his family.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with the ongoing investigation. LBPD officers redirected traffic away from the area to facilitate the examination of the circumstances surrounding the accident. According to initial findings, speed and distracted driving appear to have played significant roles in the fatal crash.
Types of Compensation at Stake for Victims
