Long Beach, CA (Jul 20, 2024)-In a tragic turn of events, a deadly hit-and-run incident resulted in the death of a motorcyclist who was initially injured in a collision on the border of Long Beach and Lakewood.
The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) is calling on any witnesses to step forward as they continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking accident.
The collision occurred around 6:10 p.m. on June 4 at the intersection of Carson Street and Ostrom Avenue. According to the LBPD, the victim, who was riding a 2022 Yamaha motorcycle, was traveling west on Carson Street behind another vehicle. As the motorcyclist changed lanes, a 2007 Ford Edge was making a left turn onto Carson Street. Unfortunately, the motorcycle collided with the Ford, resulting in critical injuries for the rider.
Despite medical efforts, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries on July 12. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently working to identify the victim. The authorities have not yet confirmed whether any other individuals were injured in the collision or if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
