Los Angeles, CA (July 1, 2024)- In a fatal collision in the West Adams area of Los Angeles, a driver who was allegedly robbed rear-ended a vehicle containing the suspects, resulting in the death of one of them, authorities reported on Sunday.
The incident occurred at 5:28 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Adams Boulevard and West View Street, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department, who spoke to City News Service.
The driver of the vehicle carrying the alleged robbers, a 32-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, Officer Im said. Police stated that the deceased victim and at least two passengers were fleeing the scene after allegedly robbing a 21-year-old man.
The robbery victim, determined to pursue the suspects, got into his vehicle and eventually rear-ended their car, causing it to crash into a light pole and killing the driver.
In the aftermath of the collision, two passengers from the suspects’ vehicle exited and fired shots at the pursuing driver.
The duo then got into another vehicle and fled in an unknown direction, as reported by the police.
The 21-year-old robbery victim remained at the scene and waited for the police to arrive, according to the LAPD’s Media Relations Section. It was not immediately clear if he was arrested or facing any charges.
