Orange County CA (June 28, 2024)- O.C. Driver blames Tesla for collision: On June 25, 2024, around 4:00 p.m., police officers were dispatched to an injury traffic collision at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue. Six vehicles were involved in the crash, resulting in a rollover and leaving multiple victims trapped in their vehicles.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2023 Tesla Model Y was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Orangethorpe Avenue at a high speed.
The Tesla initially struck a vehicle pulling out of a business driveway at 6771 Beach Boulevard. It then continued through a red light at Beach Boulevard, colliding with three more vehicles in front of 7740 Orangethorpe Avenue, eventually rolling over and hitting another vehicle.
Three victims were transported to local hospitals with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Buena Park Police Department‘s Serious Collision Investigation Detail (SCID) was called to the scene.
Orangethorpe Avenue remained closed for four hours for investigators to process the site. Traffic investigators are still working to determine the events leading up to the collision.
According to the Buena Park Police Department, the Tesla driver claims the car malfunctioned before the crash.
