Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a hit-and-run suspect who seriously injured a 71-year-old pedestrian in Encino on Saturday night. The incident highlights the devastating impact of reckless driving and the importance of holding such offenders accountable.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the collision occurred around 9 p.m. near Ventura Boulevard and Libbit Avenue. A white vehicle, identified as a four-door Nissan Altima, was speeding eastbound on Ventura Boulevard when it collided with another car exiting a driveway and traveling northbound. The impact caused the northbound vehicle to veer left, striking a pedestrian who was crossing the street.
The 71-year-old man was thrown onto westbound traffic lanes on Ventura Boulevard. The driver of the northbound vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. However, the suspect driving the white Nissan Altima fled the scene without offering assistance to the severely injured pedestrian.
Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department quickly transported the victim to a local hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries. Investigators are now focusing their efforts on tracking down the hit-and-run driver.
Description of the Suspect’s Vehicle
Police have described the suspect’s vehicle as a four-door Nissan Altima with notable damage. The car is missing the driver-side door mirror and has collision damage to the front right headlamp and possibly the front right and rear passenger doors.

Compensation for Victims of Hit-and-Run Accidents
Victims of hit-and-run accidents often face significant physical, emotional, and financial burdens. Medical bills, rehabilitation costs, lost wages, and long-term care expenses can quickly overwhelm victims and their families. Compensation can also include non-economic damages, such as pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of quality of life.
