Crash in West Sacramento Kills Two, Injures Children
Two people lost their lives in a head-on crash in West Sacramento on the night of Monday, February 15. It was reported to the authorities at around 11:30 p.m.
According to the details shared by the West Sacramento Police Department, the collision between the two vehicles happened just south of Locks Drive at Jefferson Boulevard. One of the vehicles had a single occupant in it at the time of the crash, the vehicle’s driver. The second vehicle, however, had multiple occupants. These included a man and a woman, probably husband and wife, and their two young children.
At about 11:32 p.m. the vehicle with the single driver crashed head-on into the second vehicle. It isn’t clear precisely how the accident took place.
Following the crash in West Sacramento, the occupants of both vehicles sustained injuries. The man and the woman traveling in the other vehicle suffered critical injuries. Once the first responders and paramedics reached the scene of the crash, both were pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.
The children traveling with the man and the woman were transported to an area hospital, although the nature and severity of their injuries remains unknown.
The other driver who is suspected of having caused the crash also suffered serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The West Sacramento Police continue to investigate the crash. The focus of the investigations at this point is to ascertain the actual cause of the crash. Preliminary investigations hint that the single driver was at fault and caused the fatal accident. Initial findings also hint that the driver may have been driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the crash took place. If this turns out to be the case, the driver may face stiff penalties.
