In a tragic event, a teenager was killed in a high-speed crash at Paso Robles intersection on Thursday evening, January 13. The teenager collided with two other cars after speeding through the intersection, according to the police.
It has been revealed that the collision happened at 34th and Spring streets around 5:15 p.m., according to Cmdr. Tom Rehner. When the speeding vehicle hit the other two vehicles it was traveling northbound on Spring Street. The other two vehicles turned onto Spring from 34th street.
According to a video posted on Facebook, one vehicle turned left onto the southbound side and one turned left onto the northbound side of Spring Street. It was then, a black car is seen racing into the frames and colliding with both the cars.
The speed of the vehicle, according to witnesses, was around 50 to 70 mph. Rehner added that the speeding vehicle hit other vehicles before the other drivers could get out of the way.
Rehner said that the speeding driver, aged 17, died at the scene due to severe injuries sustained in the collision. No other passengers or drivers reported injury. The speed of the driver is still being investigated by the Paso Robles Police Department. The involvement of drugs and alcohol is still under investigation, as investigators are conducting toxicology screenings to find whether these were the factors in the high-speed crash at Pablo Robles intersection.
