CHP Arrests Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Solano County
California Highway Patrol has arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Solano County on March 12. The suspect was taken into custody on Friday, March 19.
According to the details shared by CHP, the suspect has been apprehended for a hit-and-run crash that took place on Friday, March 12. The suspect was identified as Marcos Manuel Guzman, 47.
On the evening of March 12, CHP troopers received reports that a possible DUI driver was recklessly driving along Abernathy Road and Mankas Corner Road in Solano County. Based on these reports, the troopers were able to locate Guzman and his vehicle, identified as a Lexus with frontal damage.
Guzman was then taken into custody and charged with driving with a suspended license, and suspicion of DUI.
However, the troopers were not aware at the time that Guzman and his vehicle had also been involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident earlier that evening. CHP received reports of the hit-and-run on the morning of March 13. The incident had occurred on Abernathy Road close to Andrews Lane.
The hit-and-run involved a collision between a vehicle and an ATV. The driver of the ATV was identified as a 60-year-old male. The man died from the injuries suffered in the crash. The vehicle that caused the collision fled from the scene.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the damage to Guzman’s Lexus was consistent with the impact involved in the hit-and-run crash. Based on these findings, Guzman was rearrested by the authorities on Friday on suspicion of being responsible for the hit-and-run accident. He had previously been released after being charged with DUI offenses.
Authorities continue to investigate the hit-and-run in Solano County. If the hit-and-run charges against Guzman are proved, he is likely to face stiff penalties especially if the DUI charges are also confirmed.
