Courtney Fritz Pandolfi, a 44-year-old resident of Garden Grove, Orange County, stood before the judge to receive her sentence on Friday.
This moment marked the end of a legal process that began with her guilty plea in February to two felonies: murder and driving under the influence of drugs causing bodily injury, with prior convictions exacerbating her culpability.
The Orange County Office of the District Attorney painted a harrowing picture of the events leading to Pandolfi’s conviction. On a fateful evening in Anaheim, August 11, 2020, Pandolfi, under the influence of a potent cocktail of drugs, including cocaine and methamphetamine, careened down the streets.
Her impaired judgment led her to mount a curb, collide with a metal newspaper stand, and ultimately strike 23-year-old Yesenia Aguilar, who was pregnant at the time.
